Description

This event is one of several facilitated workshops being held throughout New Zealand so CDANZ members can have their say on the CDANZ Draft Competency Framework. The workshops are free and attendees may claim 2 hours of CDANZ Professional Development.

Previous Briefing Papers to CDANZ members have identified the work of the Professionalism Project, which formally began in 2014. Three key questions underpin the project: What is professionalism? Why does it matter? For whom?

The current focus is on strengthening the CDANZ Professional Standards.

This year we are developing a Competency Framework for CDANZ, encompassing the comprehensive work carried out by past CDANZ members, an analysis of international models in the careers field, and an assessment of best practice in other professions. From this work the project team has developed a comprehensive set of competencies which have recently been through subject-expert analysis and peer review.

We are now delighted to introduce the Draft Competency Framework to our membership for examination and feedback. The Competency Framework has been drafted for, and on behalf of, our members, and therefore your understanding and input into this process is core to its success. Once complete, the Competency Framework will inform future professional development on offer, form the basis of identifying Alternative Pathways to Professional Membership and give a clear framework for qualification providers.

In Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch, we will be presenting face-to-face workshops where we have a resident project team member. In other regional branches, a meeting will be held where members will view a video from the Professionalism Project Team, receive resources, and gather member feedback through a facilitated workshop.

Location details: It's the blue glass building on the corner of Bryce and Anglesea, alongside the Bryce street car park building. When you step out of the lift on Level 2, the ERO/TEC door is on the very right hand side. Note we will let you into the building on the day as it is card access only.

Please note that this is a new location for those of you who may automatically go back to the old Careers NZ offices – please don’t!

Parking: Use either the Bryce street car park building or see if you can get the 2-hour free parking on the street.
